I love popping into Forever 21 from time to time because they always seem to have what I’m searching for. Until today, I found it difficult to find a reasonably priced white ruffle cami top, which is why I’m really excited to share this $13 ruffle cami top with you guys (linked here). It’s the perfect piece to buy now and wear through the fall season.
Let’s be honest, we are all in a rush, especially this time of the year. Do you find that it’s hard to “stay in the moment” when the guy in front of you is driving too slow or you’ve hit your alarm clock one too many times and now you’re late. I’m guilty of all of this and more. In the mornings, I want to look put together but hate putting in the effort. This has a large part to do with the fact that I never leave enough time in the morning to actually put together an outfit. Oh, the struggle is real. At 6:17am when I’m getting ready for work, it’s usually the first pair of jeans I can find, the same booties that I always wear and the one of few shirts I own that doesn’t require ironing. Then, it’s throwing my hair up in a bun and it’s out the door. Do this a few times in a row and you’ll realize it’s time to break the boring routine. If you’re a girl-on-the-go, I want to share 3 tips on how to look put together. It’s an easy style hack for those who want to look chic with the least amount of effort required. Who doesn’t want that?
Skinny Black Jeans. Such an easy way to look more chic. I am a huge fan of denim and own several pairs, all different washes, some ripped, some high waisted, etc. However, I just recently started buying more black denim. The best part about skinny black jeans is that you don’t have to spend a butt-load of money to look polished and put together. I found these jeans at Forever 21 for less than $30.
Choker Tops. I know many people will agree with me that a choker is the best way to elevate your style. Choker Tops are the perfect way to kill two birds with one stone. There is something about the extra detailing that makes you look much more polished than if you were to just throw on any oversized top. I am a big fan of wearing oversized choker tops during the day and choker top bodysuits during the night. The best part? No jewelry required.
Leather Jacket. Everyone should own one in their closet. Even if you feel as if it isn’t exactly your style, you may be surprised as to how often you find yourself wearing it after you own it. I’ll never forget the first time I bought my leather jacket, many years ago. For the first year, it sat in my closet. For some reason I felt uncomfortable wearing it. Now, I can’t get enough of it. I recently bought a new one and it is my favorite fall staple.
Life can get busy at times and we are all in a rush to get somewhere. It’s important for us to remember to slow down and enjoy life, not just rush through it. Even with this in mind, it’s inevitable that we will still face those busy mornings. If you are looking for tips on how to look put together, I hope this short list helped a bit. You may not be convinced that these simple clothing items will help elevate your style but give them a try! I’ve shared my favorites with you below.

Happy Monday! So, the weather was surprisingly warm today. I was able to lay out for a little bit after this photo shoot, which felt amazing. What I love most about blogging is that it is so calming and relaxing for me. When the warm sun is out and I can take 20 or so minutes to do what I love, there’s really nothing better. Today, I’m sharing a summer-inspired outfit that I wore at my best friend’s bachelorette in Avalon, a maxi skirt and crop top that each costs less than $20.
I’m not sure if this happens to you, but sometimes I picture an outfit in my head and then find it impossible to find it in the store. (I know, that’s not as big of a tragedy as it seems) Yet, when there’s an upcoming event as memorable as your friend’s bachelorette, it’s nice to plan outfits ahead of time. I knew that I wanted to wear a maxi skirt and crop top, two items of clothing that are summer staples for your closet. The tricky part, however, was finding a crop top with sleeves. I figured Forever 21 was a good starting point for an affordable crop top. So, that was my first stop of the day…
It takes at least 3 times for me to walk around Forever 21 and feel that I sorted through most of what they have. Seriously, that store is overwhelming. I was about to lose hope when I found this pink crop top mixed in with other items of clothes in a rack. Score! One item of clothing was crossed off my list.
My next stop was Charlotte Russe. Okay, both of these stores are really hit or miss but when shopping for basics such as a maxi skirt and crop top, both Charlotte and Forever are good places to start. I was surprised when I found a maxi skirt that was the exact color to the lace bralette that I was going to wear underneath my top. Another item of clothing was crossed off my list.
The last item to buy was a necklace to pull it all together. I absolutely love the Riviera Collar Necklace from Free People. For my feet, my gladiator sandals from Charlotte Russe (last year’s find) perfectly complemented this boho-chic summer look and for my head, I absolutely love my head wrap from Anthropologie. Shop this exact outfit below and don’t forget to subscribe to my blog, My Chic Sunday.
How to Keep Blonde Hair Bright & Beautiful during those summer months.
Summer is so close, I can actually smell it in the air. Although this photoshoot at the beach (very chilly) reminded me that it’s still April and maybe I should slow down a bit, it’s hard not to get overly excited about these 70 degree temps. With that said, I began my summer shopping yesterday. I have to admit that even though I’m almost 30 years old, I still make the occasional trip into Forever 21 for the summer fashion essentials: jean shorts and crop tops. While shopping for my summer basics, I was pleasantly surprised to find this pineapple crop top for under $10. I’ve shared this basic crop top with you below and, now, I want to shift my focus to telling you all about a $17 purchase that plays a tremendous part of how to keep blonde hair bright and beautiful.
Let’s face it. If you have blonde hair then you understand how hard it is to maintain your bright blonde locks (especially if you’re not a natural blonde, boy it can be expensive). I’ve been working very hard to achieve that silver/white look, which unfortunately for my bank account, means several trips to the salon yearly. I was frustrated to find that my blonde hair wasn’t staying bright and beautiful after a few washes. Especially since I just spent hundreds of dollars to take out all of the brass in my hair. Not sure what to do, I did what everyone does in a time of crisis and took my questions to google. I stumbled upon an article which shared some key information into how to keep blonde and silver hair bright and man, let me tell you I’m so glad that I listened.
In the article, it mentioned investing in a shower filter. A shower filter is God’s gift to blondes. Why? It filters out all of the chlorine, dirt and other harsh substances that make your hair go from fab to drab. When it comes to my hair, I’m willing to try everything and anything. A quick trip to my local Home Depot and I was a proud owner of a shower filter (only $17) that same day.
It’s important to mention that I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week and I also use Shimmer Lights purple shampoo and Blond Brilliance toner to help keep the brass away.

Dressing for Cold Temps: How to Wear Maxi Skirts in Winter
This winter has been a weather rollercoaster. It’ll snow then go up into the 50’s, then back down into the 20s. While Mother Nature can’t make up her mind, the song Katy Perry instantly pops into my head, “you’re hot then you’re cold…” I think we can all agree that this winter has definitely been a strange one but it was a great time to experiment with different winter outfit ideas. I like to raise the question of how to wear maxi skirts in winter because it’s a piece of clothing that many won’t consider wearing, simply because of the cold temps. If you’re one of those people, try to re-consider. Wearing maxi skirts in the winter is an easy way to look chic and comfortable.
Shopping for a maxi skirt can be a little challenging if you have a particular color and material in mind. I wanted a basic, lightweight skirt that I could wear into spring/summer. I was so excited to find this particular maxi skirt at Forever 21 for under $10. It’s a simple basic maxi skirt with slits up each side. I chose the army green skirt to mimic that military chic look that will be trending this spring season. I paired this skirt with a basic black cropped top, also found at Forever 21 for under $10. Since this was a simple basic winter outfit, I wanted to add an unexpected detail to the look so I tied up the slits into a knot.
If you’re wondering how to wear maxi skirts in winter, consider a neutral color with a black leather jacket and brightly colored scarf, just like I’m wearing in the photo.

I’m dedicating this week to how to stay chic in winter because it’s something that has gotten easier for me through the years. See, a few years ago, I thought uggs and an oversized sweatshirt was the perfect definition of winter cozy chic. I wish someone would have told me otherwise. Don’t get me wrong, I am a full supporter of my Volcom hoodie and leggings during the chilliest of nights. There is nothing more cozy than your favorite worn out sweatshirt and comfortable pajama pants while the wind howls outside. Mix in a cup of tea and hibernation mode begins. However, in today’s world things have changed a bit. I’m an adult now and long gone are the days of ugg boots and my sorority letters. Adulting isn’t something that you ask for but it’s happening and there’s no way to stop it. I don’t necessarily have to act like an adult (I’m eating oreos and milk right now) but I, at the very least, need to dress the part. So, I hope you’ll enjoy my tips on how to stay chic in winter.
If you don’t own a pair of over the knee boots you are missing out an a fall/winter staple. Even with a heel, they can be comfortable and might I add, incredibly sexy. Since I rarely wear anything other than black (in my defense, I did just blog about an all-white ensemble so that’s a step in the right direction) I opted for black over the knee boots and spent a little over $100 on them. They are very comfortable compared to many of the heels that I own and they go with everything: ripped jeans, black leather leggings, my little black dress, etc. I wouldn’t recommend these when it’s icy but on the days when the suns out, over the knee boots are ultra chic, even during the day (maybe not at the grocery store).
Next up are duster cardigans. I cannot get over how much I wear my duster cardigan from Forever 21. I love that it’s light gray because it goes with everything that I own. It makes more of a statement than a regular cardigan and it’s surprisingly very warm. For the days when you need to run to the store fast, throwing on a duster cardigan is a simple, no-fuss way of staying warm and stylish this winter.
Lastly, I highly recommend purchasing one or two pairs of leather leggings. You don’t need to spend a fortune on them. The ones that I wore today are shiny leggings from Charlotte Russe that look like leather leggings without being uncomfortable. In fact, I’m still wearing them now. I like to lounge around in them, too. They have the same feel as leggings but you look much more chic and put together.
I hope you enjoyed my three tips on how to stay chic in winter. Add these three pieces to your closet and you’ll be surprised as to how much more stylish your outfits will appear, with minimal effort on your part! Thanks for reading today and please follow my blog and Instagram for more posts.
Happy Hump Day! Don’t worry, the weekend is almost here. Although I don’t know how much I’m looking forward to it. We are expected to get a huge snowstorm so I think I’ll have to cancel my plans. Looks like it’s going to be a stay-at-home and bake kinda weekend. If you’re looking for cute outfit ideas for winter, there are several ways to look chic while staying warm this month. Most of these ideas involve clothes that you most likely already have in your closet.
As you know, I’m a huge fan of mixing patterns. I love the idea of wearing a bold, leopard print beanie during the day and pair it with my plaid shirt dress. When it’s cold outside, sometimes it take every bone in your body to get dressed. No, wearing pajamas to the grocery store isn’t acceptable anymore.Ugh, adulting can be hard sometimes. If you’re not feeling inspired to get dressed up, throwing on a beanie can instantly make any outfit look better. Choosing a bold print such as leopard, makes you look more put together. I love the idea of wearing leopard during the day and this is a sure fire way of making a statement while staying classy. The next time you are at Target (yes, Target has amazing, affordable beanies for winter), browse their hat section and pick up a beanie for these cold, winter months. You’ll be surprised about how much use you get out of it.
While brainstorming cute outfit ideas for winter, I had to mention my plaid shirt dress from Forever 21. I love this dress because it has multiple uses. You can wear it during the day, with booties and knee high socks, or you can wear it to bed. Do you find it hard to find cute winter pajamas? This shirt dress is a great way to stay warm while looking a little sexy, too.
And last but not least, invest in knee high socks. I have several pairs from black to gray and I wear them nearly every chance I get. Yes, even when it’s cold outside. If you’re not comfortable wearing them outside, use them for those nights you want to cuddle up in your bed with a cup of tea.
PS, my sunnies are from Reddin Eyewear. Aren’t they adorable? Don’t forget to check them out.

Now that the weather is starting to turn, I love the idea of adding as many layers as possible. There may be some days (the days with the most bitter chill) when you don’t feel inspired to dress up. Hey, if pajamas were socially acceptable, I’m pretty sure most of us would wear them to work during the winter. Since pajamas don’t exactly scream chic, there is another option called: oversized sweaters. I love the idea of wearing oversized sweaters in the winter, especially when you add multiple layers underneath. Winter outfits with layers is a great way to look chic while staying warm and comfortable.
I remember waking up on a bitter morning and not feeling inspired to blog, let alone get out of my pajamas. I opened my closet and started adding layers until I was warm.
I bought a lace top from Forever 21 last summer. At the time, I had no idea that the $20 tank would become one of my favorite winter staples. If you don’t own a lace top, I strongly suggest that you purchase one. It serves as a great first layer to any outfit and can make any ordinary white blouse look chic and expensive. Throw on your favorite oversized sweater and a jacket and you’re set.
Happy Monday! So, I have to confess that I’ve been going back and forth about lace up tops for quite some time. I love the style but was afraid that the low neckline would be a bit too revealing. This black lace up top is from PacSun but you can find very similar styles at your favorite retail store, just check out a few of my favorite lace up tops listed below!
One of my favorite things about these lace up long sleeve tops is that they can be effortlessly paired with your favorite jeans or a leather mini skirt for a nighttime glam look. For today, I opted to pair the top with my leather skirt from Forever 21. This all-black ensemble complements my style well but if you are looking for a less dramatic look, a tan suede mini skirt is popular and also another great option.
The weather has been amazing these past couple of days! I can’t believe it was December and I was completely comfortable in a mini skirt without tights. Although it is a little bit hard to dress when it’s this warm in December, I’m definitely not complaining. Fingers crossed it stays warm through the New Year!
Even though I’m ready for fall (give me all the pumpkin lattes), you can’t ignore the fact that it’s still so incredibly humid outside. I’ve been slowly making the transition into fall with my outfit choices but if I could have it my way, it would be a cool enough outside to wear booties and my leather jacket. Sadly, it was 90 degrees today and I had to dress accordingly.
I purchased this lightweight, sheer blush high low dress at Forever 21 a few years ago. I bought it for my friend’s wedding and it’s been sitting in my closet ever since. While I love shopping for dresses to wear to a wedding, I hate that some of my dresses never get to see the light of day more than once. I decided to revamp the dress and pair it with my brown gladiator sandals. I like that the sandals toned it down a bit so that I could wear it during the day. I just love when you can find an summer dress that you can dress up with heels or tone down with sandals. I’ve shared a few of my favorite affordable maxi dresses that look great, no matter your shoe choice. I hope you love these chic dresses as much as me and that you’ll follow along with my adventures on Instagram: @jenni.eliz.
